Meet Ragasastra Gunawan

Ragasastra Gunawan, a 12-year-old sixth grader from SD Istiqamah Bandung, is gaining attention for his creative and abstract doodles. Raga has loved drawing since he was little, but he began doodling more seriously in 2023–2024. For him, doodling is a way to pass time and pour his imagination onto a canvas.

“My favorite part about being an artist at 12 is that my imagination is still wide open,” he shared.

Inside Raga’s World: Shimmu & Friends

Raga’s doodle universe, Shimmu & Friends, started when he saw other kids creating their own original characters. Inspired, he made his first OC, Shimmu, followed by Sparklet, Shardy, Facetina, and Crystella, each with their own unique personality.

He often finds ideas from social media by searching things like “fantasy tree” or “tree cloud.”

Raga hopes people feel his doodles are “imaginative, wonderful, full of fantasy, and open-minded.”

For now, Raga is happy focusing on canvas art — though he says a comic might be possible in the future.
